Checkout to a SD Card (an alternative to using ActiveSync)

SD Card: short for Secure Digital card, a solid state memory card used in digital cameras, PDA's and other mobile devices.

1. Physical label each SD card with a permanent marker. (ie “SD1”)

2. Connect the SD card to your PC via a internal SD Card reader or USB/SD card reader.

3. Create a folder in root drive of the sd card matching the physical label from step 1.

4. Note the drive letter of the SD Card (ie “E:” as in the image above but this can be different depending on your PC configuration).

5. Open the TreeWorks configuration tool and click on the mobile units tab

   a . Check the on “Edit Mode” option at the bottom of the form

   b. In the mobile units drop down, select "Add new mobile unit"

    c. Type in a mobile unit name such as “SD1”

        matching the physical SD card label from step 1. (see image below) 

  

6. Click the “Save Edits” button

7. Now using the TreeWorks toolbar checkout to the SD Card Once the checkout is complete you can take the SD Card out of the SD Card reader and insert into your mobile device’s SD Card reader

  

If this is the first time using SD Card checkout option then we’ll need to set the paths to point to the SD Card instead of My Documents as it did when we were using ActiveSync.

Set The ArcPad Paths

1. Open ArcPad on the PDA

2. Click on ArcPad Option then click on the path’s tab

     - Make your paths looks like the image below using \SD Card\[NAME FROM STEP 1]\treeworks

     - Click OK.

  

3. Close ArcPad and Re-open ArcPad to reflect our changes

4. Use TreeWorks as you normally do

Checking in From the SD Card

1. Close ArcPad on the PDA

2. Remove the SD Card from the PDA and insert it in the SD Card reader attached to you desktop PC

3. Click the Check in Button on the TreeWorks Toolbar
