TreeWorks Mobile and ArcPad 8

This document touches on a few topics related to TreeWorks Mobile running on ESRI's ArcPad 8 released in April of 2009.

Can TreeWorks Mobile run on ArcPad 8?

Yes, TreeWorks is fully compatible with ArcPad version 8.

 

Did the TreeWorks Mobile forms change?

No, the look, feel, and layout of the TreeWorks toolbar and data collection forms have not changed.

I'm running an older version of ArcPad, should I upgrade to ArcPad version 8?

Yes, It's a good idea to stay current and benefit from the performance enhancements offered in this new version. Click on the following link to see what's new in ArcPad 8.

Does my checkout / checkin process need to change?

The checkout / checkin process does not change. Continue to use the TreeWorks toolbar on the desktop to manage your mobile devices.

 

My organization is preventing me from updating to ArcPad 8 at the moment. Will ArcPad 7 continue to be supported? And for how long?

The Kenerson Group will support ArcPad 7 until all of our customers have upgraded to ArcPad 8. To date, we still have a few customers still in ArcPad 6, so we know how long it can take to make the upgrade. Keep us up to date on what version of ArcPad you are running by logging into your TreeWorks account.

 


Installation

Note: Installing ArcPad 8 will uninstall previous verison of ArcPad.

Set Setup

Same as in ArcPad 7, we need to set the Default Maps & Datapaths and also the Applet paths to point to your checkout session folder. (Typically "\My Documents\treeworks" for ActiveSync users) See First Time Configuration of a mobile unit for use with TreeWorks


The New Look

 

Enable the Mr. SID File Extension

After ArcPad is installed on your mobile device, verify that the Mr.SID file extension is enabled. 

 

Click on the Option Menu > Advanced Settings > Extensions tab
